Pilikula Nisargadama

In Tulu, 'Pili' means tiger and 'kula' means pond. According to a legend, free roaming tigers frequenteda watering hole in the vicinity and hence the name Pilikula. Perched atop a hillock overlooking the quiet flowing Gurupura River, coconut groves and acacia plantations, the Pilikula Nisarga dhama Resort is an oasis of calm. Kumara Parvatha

Lord subramanya’s abode Kukke subramanya is located amidst the hills of Kumara parvatha. The peak is at a height of about 1712m, and is about 13 km from the temple. This mountain is on the border between Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu districts, so the lights of Somwarpet town in Kodagu can be seen from the peak.

The kumara parvatha is famous for trekking . this can be divided in to 2 stages. one which leads through densely covered forests and grass vegetation etc. the second is at bhattara mane which provides food for trekkers at a nominal cost. However one has to pay to the forest department and register themselves.

Kemmannu Gundi

The national poet kuvempu had his own way to express kemmanagundi. A treat to watch to the travelers. is a hill station in Tarikere taluk of Chikkamagaluru district in the state of Karnataka , India. It is 1434m above sea level. This was the summer retreat of Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV and as a mark of respect to the king, it is also known as Sri Krishnarajendra Hill Station. The station is ringed by the Baba Budan Giri Range, with cascades, mountain streams, and lush vegetation, Kemmangundi’s has ornamental gardens and mountains and valleys views.

There is a spectacular sunset view from the Raj Bhavan. kemmanaagundi means Kempu (red), mannu (soil) and gundi (pit) and means a place with red soil. There are many a places to watch at kemmanagundi z point , rose garden,Hebbe falls,Kallathi falls etc.

St. Mary’s Island

Well known as Coconut Island a group of 4 islands that form together in the Arabian Sea. St. Mary’s island is known for its distinctive geological formation of columnar basaltic lava.It is belived that in the year 1498, Vasco da Gama landed at St. Mary's Islands on his voyage from Portugal to India, fixed a cross on the island and named one of these islands, O Padrão de Santa Maria, as a dedication to Mother Mary, before he proceeded to Kozhikode in Kerala. It is from this name that the islands have got their current name.

St. Marys has always been a travel hub for people of all ages and it is carved a place for itself as one of the places in Geo tourism. We understand the importance of travel to this destination and we recommend a must for this place.

The only way of getting to the islands is by boat. Regular ferry service ply the 6 km distance from the Malpe fishing harbor but this depends on the number of travelers. It is 58 km to the North of Mangalore, the coastal city of Karnataka, which is also the nearest airport. The famous religious town Udupi, is about 60 km West North West of Mangalore Malpe is 4 km from Udupi town.

Panambur Beach

It is a beach known for its cleanliness & safety. is the site of New Mangalore Port. Located to the north of the Gurupura river. The name Panambur is derived from 'Panam' which means Money and 'Ur' which means place or village in Tulu language.

There is a Nandaneshwara temple in Panambur. The sea port is near to Surathkal railway station on the Mumbai-Mangalore railway route. There is a beautiful beach on the shore of the Arabian Sea at Tanniru Bhavi to the south of sea port at Panambur. Many factories are located at Panambur including Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers and Kudremukh Iron Ore Company Limited.

Panambur beach has Jet ski rides, Boating, Dolphin viewing, Food stalls,besides Trained Beach Life guards and Patrol vehicles to ensure the safety of the visitors to the beach.

In a first of its kind initiative in the country,the beach is maintained by a private enterprise Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project to ensure the beach is maintained clean so as to attract visitors in large numbers and create awareness among the public about the need to keep our beaches clean so as to preserve our nature and maintain ecological balance. Due to the good maintenance of the Panambur Beach by Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project,the Panambur Beach has been awarded as one of the clean & best maintained Beaches in the country.

A recent trend that has caught up in the beach is the wedding of international couple in Indian tradition at the beach side. The beach is well maintained and has 24*7 life guards at work.utmost care and cleanliness are the feature of the beach. Gomateshwara Karkala

Karkala a destination ; that has been in the pages of history for its versatility. Lord venkataramana temple is the most sought after god. Lord bahubali or Gomateshwara as it is called is a marvel of the monolithic stone architecture. The famous single stone 42-foot (13 m) statue Gomateshwara (Lord Bahubali) is located about 1 km from the center of the town and is the second tallest in Karnataka . King Veera Pandya, at the insistence of his Guru Lalitakeerti, the pontiff of Karkala Jaina Math, installed the most beautifully carved gigantic statue of Bahubali on the rocky hill of Karkala. The date of the installation has been ascertained as February 13, 1432. This is the icon of the town and a visit to Karkala is incomplete without a visit to this hillock. Veera Pandya also installed the Brahmadeva Pillar in front of the statue in 1436.

Kapu Beach

Kaup Beach is one of the major beaches in the city of Mangalore. With its tropical climate and bevy of attractions that beckon tourists from across the country. It is located at a distance of 12 km south of Udupi, offers a perfect holiday destination. Kaup has a lovely beach, a ruined fort and an old 100 ft high lighthouse. Kaup Beach is one of the famous beaches of Karnataka where tourists enjoy the beauty of the environment, the long stretches of golden beaches and the cool sea breeze.

Kaup is also famous for the two temples of Goddess Mariamma. The Jain basadis at Kaup are in ruins, but are worth a visit.

Maravanthe Beach

One of the most beautiful beaches in the state of Karnataka, Marvathe is situated on the National Highway 17, about 50 km from Udupi. Bordered by the vast Arabian Sea on one side and Souparnika River on the other side, the two water bodies run parallel to the road in between them.
